~Thankful For Democracy~

It seems that all of us have been waiting with bated breath for today. The last 8 years have taken such a toll on everyone.

I am thankful that I live in a country that allows us freedom of speech, freedom of the press, the freedom to vote for our elected officials.

I am thankful that we have the freedom of religion. This freedom enables me to embrace parts of many religions.

I am thankful that I have the right to assemble peacefully in protest of something that I don't agree with.

I am thankful that I can express my opinion about the president and his inability to govern without the fear of being censored.

Please remember to vote today. It is something that we should be thankful for.

New York ~ Day 3

My final day in New York, was very bitter sweet. I was having so much fun, I really didn't want to leave.

I went up to The Empire State Building. An amazing view it was!!!!!!!!

We then took a carriage ride through Central Park. I loved it!!!!!!!! I saw where they filmed to movie Enchanted.

I saw The Dakota (the building where John Lennon lived and where he was shot).

I then went to see, "In The Heights". The play is by Lin-Manuel Miranda. He conceived the idea during his sophomore year at Wesleyan University. The play won 2008 Tony award for Best Original Score.

We went to dinner at Tavern On The Green. The drinks were amazing. The food wasn't all that and a bag of chips. I was really kind of disappointed.

Our last play was Chicago. I wasn't all that thrilled with this play. I much preferred the movie if I must say so myself.

Our final excursion was Times Square. I stood in the middle of Times Square and it was breathtaking.

I gotta say, this trip was amazing.

Day Two In New York

Day two was extremely busy. We were supposed to go on a helicopter tour of the city, but it didn't happen ~ which was fine with me.

We then went to Ground Zero. I have to say that I literally had goosebumps the closer we got. I could not believe that it is STILL one big whole. Where is the memorial??????

Our first play of the day was Grease. It was amazing. For all of you American Idol fans out there ~ Ace Young plays the part of Kenickie. He was very good.

Dinner was at Zanzibar. It is a very stylish, trendy restaurant with a tapas type menu. I really liked it.

Hairspray was our evening play. OMG, I totally loved it. George Wendt, formerly of Cheers plays the part of the mother. He was amazing.

After a whirl wind week in NY, I am finally home, to stay for the rest of the year.

Before I go on and on about NY, I just wanted to say Thank You to all of the ladies who attended the Memorial Service for HighandTight. Thank you also for the more then delicious food and desserts.

I am very lucky to be part of a community with so many amazing women in it.

Now, for New York ~

It was, in a word, spectacular.

I arrived in New York and saw my first play, Boeing, Boeing. The play was a comedy and absolutely hysterical.

Boeing Boeing starred Christine Baranski and Paige Davis. This is Mark Rylance. He is a Shakesperian Actor but is so funny in Boeing, Boeing.

Dinner was at Uncle Jack's Steakhouse. OMG, talk about good....it was flipping amazing. We had an amazing bottle of wine, we both had filet Mignon and I had a baked potato and asparagus.

After the theater, we went out for drinks and dessert. I had creme brulee and an ice wine.

We stayed at Hilton Garden Inn in Times Square.

It was absolutely beautiful.

I'll post all about day 2 tomorrow.

The Word of the day is Karma

October 3, 1995 ~ millions of television viewers were glued to their screen to watch the most publicized trial in American history ~ the trial of OJ Simpson.

The words "NOT GUILTY" had a profound affect on everyone.

Now, 13 years later, I think Karma has finally caught up with OJ Simpson as the word "GUILTY" resounded in a Las Vegas courtroom.

OJ Simpson had it all.

While at University of Southern California he was an outstanding running back and led the nation in rushing yards.

He earned the Heisman trophy and was the number 1 draft pick for the NFL. He played for the Buffalo Bills and later with the 49ers where he played in 6 Pro Bowls and was number 14 on the NFL's all-time rushing list.

America fell in love with teh spokesperson for Hertz and the actor who was in Towering Inferno, Naked Gun and Roots.

But OJ had a dark side, he physically abused his wife Nicole, he stalked Nicole who was forced to get a restraining order against OJ.

Then on June 12, 1994, Nicole and Ronald Goldman were found murdered.

Slow speed Bronco chases, bloody gloves, eyewitness testimony, motive, lack of alibi, DNA evidence and prior bad acts all seemed to say that Simpson was the murderer, but a dream team of lawyers, prosecution blunders and police misconduct left the jury members perplexed and the words "NOT GUILTY", rang in the ears of all America.

Although two years later, the civil trial would have a different outcome, and Simpson would be liable for the wrongful death of Ron and Nicole, OJ was protected from paying most of the $33 Million judgment because his 2,000,000 per years pension from the NFL was protected.

OJ was dealt a "Get Out Of Jail Free Card", you would think that he would have just shut up and QUIETLY led his life, but NO.

Simpson moved to Dade County Florida and resumed his life making money on autographs, playing golf and living his life with his on-again/off-again girlfriend. The two have over 187 arrests and police reports filed against them for, among other things, domestic abuse, road rage, and threatening Simpson's handyman.

Direct TV won a lawsuit against OJ who was pirating satellite signals. The $25,000 Judgment against OJ was never paid.

Then, of course you have OJ's book and television deal. Simpson agreed to explain how he would have committed the murder of Ron and Nicole IF he had been the killer. The Book, "If I Did It", had to be OJ's most brazen act of stupidity. Public outcry was so great that the plug was pulled on the show and the father of Ron Goldman was awarded the publicity rights to the book and retitled it, "I Did It: Confessions of the Killer."

Now, 13 years TO THE DATE, of the NOT GUILTY verdict, the words GUILTY finally reached OJ's ears.

Karma ~ it may not happen today, it may not happen tomorrow. You may have to wait 13 YEARS for justice to be done ~ but it DOES HAPPEN

Hi Honey - I'm Home

I got home yesterday, almost 3 hours late, but I'll tell you about that later.

Today, I would like to tell everyone about the most fascinating tour I went on in New Orleans ~ The Cemetery Tour.

In 1799, New Orleans lost many citizens to a Yellow Fever epidemic and also The Great Fire of 1788. The St. Peter cemetery, on the outskirts of the city, was full. There was a belief, that if you buried the dead among the living it contributed to the outbreak of disease.

The cemetery I toured was St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 and was established in 1789.

Most of the tombs in St. Louis Cemetery were designed to house many generations of a family, society or group in the same tomb. The dead were placed in wooden coffins in one of the vaults. The vault opening was loosely closed with mortared brick and a stone tablet sealed the tomb. If someone else died, the vault could be re-opened after at least 1 year and 1 day. The coffin was removed and burned. The decomposed remains were pushed to the back of the tomb or placed beneath the vaults.

There are many prominent people buried in St. Louis Cemetery No. 1:

Homer Plessy - A plaintiff in the 1896 Sumpreme Court case, Plessy vs. Ferguson which delared separate as being equal.

Ernest "Dutch" Morial - New Orleans' first African American Mayor and, my most favorite person:

Marie Laveau - Well-known Voodoo Queen of New Orleans.

New Orleans

I may not be coming home ~ just kidding ~ New Orleans is amazing. I really love it here. I have almost completed the top ten list of the things to do in New Orleans while you are here. I went on the Haunted History Tour.

In a word, amazing.

I ate beniets and drank Cafe Au Laute at Cafe Dumont. I didn't think I would like Cafe Au Laute, but OMG, it is really good.

I drank a Hurricane ~ they are NOT all that and a bag of chips. I did listen to jazz ~ I do love jazz.

I hate the hotel I am staying at, as it wasn't the one I was supposed to stay at. That is a blog in and of itself .

Nicholas Cage has a home in the French Quarter, it is actually one of the most haunted places in New Orleans ~ very cool.

Despite the fact that I am having a blast here, I do miss home.

I miss all my guys and I can't wait to regale you with stories of my travels.

On a personal note, this trip was one that my mom and I were supposed to take many years ago, and because of her death, we didn't take it.

I was sitting at Pat O'Briens, in tears today, because she should have been here with me.

Mom, I miss you, and that Hurricane was for you. You would have loved The Big Easy.

Pray Away The Gay and ProLife for ALL

Sarah Palin's church, Wasilla Bible Church, believes that you can "Pray Away The Gay".

Palin is also totally prolife, opposing abortion even in the case of incest and rape.

Let me ask this, if she is prolife, what are her views on the death penalty? And why for the love of God did she do this to a poor moose.

And if she is pro-life for ALL then why does she have THIS in her home:

Finally, if Sarah Palin is prolife for all ~ why is she wearing THIS:

This woman is so wrong for our country on so many levels.

The Ghost In My Kitchen

I am more then positive that I have a ghost in my kitchen.

It all started when Diesel, my Shitzu would wake me up in the middle of the night barking at something or someone that he saw in my kitchen. I never saw anything.

It continued and got worse when I got Chewie. Diesel and Chewie would, on some nights, just bark and growl at this thing that I could not see.

After Chewie passed away, the in the middle of the night barking stopped.

The last two mornings, I get up in the morning fill my coffee pot with water and "what the f@ck" water is overflowing from my coffee pot. Someone or Something has filled my coffee pot with water already.

Yesterday I dismissed it as, "ok, I have a lot on my mind and maybe I forgot that I did this the night before."

But this morning it happened again. I KNOW I did not fill my coffee pot with ANYTHING yesterday.

Me thinks my Ghost is back.

The Bucket List

So, today I turned 41. My dad was 41 when he passed away, so I feel a bit creepy about turning this age.

What is making turning 41 even creepier is that there are only a FEW things that I have always wanted to do before I "go" but they are actually happening.

Let me expound:

I have always wanted to go to New Orleans. I am going to New Orleans in September.

I have always wanted to go to New York and see Broadway Shows, I am going to New York and seeing Broadway Shows.

I have always wanted to go on a cruise, but because of my deep fear of water and flying, I have never gone. Well, this cruise is too good to pass up...I have a client taking me on a Panamanian Cruise in March.

The ONLY thing left on my Bucket List is:

~ Go on a tour of Napa Valley Wineries
~ Go on a bicycle tour of Ireland
~ Meet Ellen Degeneres

If the following wishes come true, I am pretty sure my time is going to be up..........
